Program Cost & Sharing

Up to $1,000,000 (per incident) of fair & reasonable eligible medical expenses are shareable after the Annual Unshared Amount (AUA) has been met. See the Sharing Guidelines for more program information.

Health Share Terms  

Annual Unshared Amount (AUA): The amount of an eligible need that does not qualify for sharing.  

Co-Share:  The portion of eligible medical bills a sharing member with a Co-Share option must pay after his or her AUA has been met. 

Member Pays (AUA not met): If you have not yet met your AUA, you must pay will be responsible for the full cost any bills up to your AUA amount before your bills are eligible for sharing.

Member Pays (AUA met): Once your AUA has been met, Liberty HealthShare facilitates the sharing of eligible medical expenses. Depending on your program, you may have a Co-Share. 

  • Liberty Unite does not have a co-share.

Shareable Eligible Medical Expenses

Once you’ve met your Annual Unshared Amount (AUA), the following types of medical expenses are eligible for sharing through Liberty Unite:

Annual wellness* and screening appointments
Ambulance Transport
Ancillary Therapies
Emergency Care
 Home Health Care
Medical Testing
Physician and Clinic Visits
Prenatal and Maternity Care
Surgery and Hospital Care (Inpatient or Outpatient)
Telehealth Visits
Urgent Care
Vaccinations

 

*After the first two months of membership, an annual wellness and related lab work are eligible for sharing and not subject to AUA. Please see Sharing Guidelines for details.

Medical Expenses of $200 or less should not be submitted and are not eligible for sharing.

Not all medical expenses are shareable

Because our medical cost sharing programs are voluntary and limited to amounts shared by members, not all medical expenses are shareable.

Generally speaking, we do not share expenses associated with unhealthy choices or voluntary/cosmetic procedures. As a community of health-conscious people living by Christian values, most of our members avoid these charges naturally, with a few exceptions.*

Under Liberty Unite, you may not share:
  Pre-existing conditions during the first year of membership*
  Tier 1-3 Prescriptions
 Dental/Vision Expenses
 Expenses other than accidents, acute illness, or injury within the first 60 days of membership
 Medical expenses of $200 or less in billed charges may not be shared, unless otherwise noted in the Sharing Guidelines

Members have access to an optional PHCS Network of over 900,000 providers who have agreed to Fair & Reasonable pricing. You may always choose a provider who does not participate in the PHCSnetwork, but your likelihood of a balance bill will increase. Balance bills are not eligible for sharing.
