A Grateful Member Thanks Fellow Members
At Liberty HealthShare, our mission of facilitating the sharing of members’ medical expenses is serious business. When we are serving a member who has experienced an illness or accident requiring ongoing medical care, we want to be a safe place in the storm. For this reason, our team members encourage one another to remember that a member in distress is a person in need; a person our ministry exists to serve. It makes us proud to get feedback that lets us know our team is serving members well.
Confused About Pre-Existing Conditions?
At Liberty HealthShare, we frequently hear members as well as health care professionals referring to Liberty as insurance. It is important for our members to remember that Liberty is a cost-sharing ministry, not an insurance company. Because we are a healthcare sharing ministry, we are free from insurance! We are free to choose our physician, choose our hospital, and choose our pharmacy. We are in charge of our own healthcare. As members of Liberty HealthShare, we must take the role of stewards who strive to minimize cost for all of our members. One of the ways in which we accomplish this is through our handling of pre-existing conditions.

Back To School - Healthy Tips From Sue
It’s that time of the year again. Backpacks that have spent the summer filled with overnight clothes, sunscreen, and swimsuits will again be filled with school books and supplies. Summer is coming to an end and, ready or not, school is about to begin. While this can be an exciting time, it can also cause anxiety and frustration. Many of us - kids and grown-ups alike - get butterflies as summer fades. However, preparation leads to confidence, which in turn leads to a positive back-to-school experience.

Voting For Freedom
Last month, Liberty HealthShare sent representatives to Cleveland and Philadelphia to meet with those attending the Republican and Democrat National Conventions. Since healthcare is a particularly hot topic this election cycle, we wanted to make sure candidates and their campaigns are aware of our unique status. We are always paying attention to possible policy changes, both at the national and the state level, and we are always advocating for FREEDOM!

Is A Stress-Free Vacation Possible? - Healthy Tips From Sue
Vacations are supposed to be a time when we take a break from work and other aspects of our daily life. But do they make us happier? Researchers from the Netherlands conducted a study and their conclusion was the following: yes, vacations do make you happier but, unfortunately, only for a short period of time. Unsurprisingly, one of the main reasons for this is that vacationers tend to either worry about work or about the amount of work waiting for them upon their return to work. How many people reading this article have done the same thing while on vacation? Is it possible to remain stress-free while away from home? Not entirely. But a few tips can eliminate some of that stress from the time you leave to when you return.

Conventional Thinking Isn't Necessarily Best
Viewpoints From A Naturopathic Physician by Kendra Pearsall, N.M.D. Medicine is and always has been more art than science. The information provided here is not to be treated as individual medical advice but rather a starting point from which to assess your own health practices. What is best for you is what restores and or maintains good health. Read with an open mind and consult with your personal physician on any changes you may want to make. I offer this article as a reminder to maintain a healthy dose of skepticism where it comes to conventional thinking (the kind usually passed down from academics and bureaucrats) that attempts to treat us all the same way.
Exploring Your Local Farmer's Market
Have you ever shopped at a Farmer's Market? Not since the beginning of the industrial revolution has farm-to-table been a more meaningful phrase. Buying directly from a farmer means you are purchasing the freshest local products available while supporting a small business. It's good for you, your health, and your local economy!
Winning A Backache-Free Backyard Battle
May’s Memorial Day preserves the memory of veterans who have given their lives for our country’s freedom – a freedom that, among other things, gave us the Great American Backyard. In preparing our backyards for warm weather activities, we wage war on winter damage, insect infestations, and Pinterest fantasies. Before launching your offensive, read our Intelligence Briefing. It could keep you from being wounded in the Battle of the Backyard!
Conscience And Common Sense
A Member (and Employee) Testimonial Hi. I'm Christen Varley, Public Affairs Specialist for Liberty HealthShare. When people ask me what it is I do every day, I tell them I'm the luckiest person working here. I spend most of my days talking to people all over our country about healthcare sharing with Liberty HealthShare! I get to speak with clergy, lay people, business owners, journalists, potential members, activists, attorneys, policy analysts, and sometimes even elected officials. I explain what healthcare sharing is, how it came into being, and how Liberty Health Share is helping people all over the country pay for medical costs in a community that cares about maintaining good health and pitching in to help others in times of need. My favorite part of any conversation, though, is telling them why I chose healthcare sharing for my own family.
A Convenient Telemedicine Platform for Liberty HealthShare Members We here at Liberty HealthShare strive daily to make accessing medical care simple. This is why we don't have a "network" of physicians to which members must adhere. VideoMedicine makes accessing care that much easier whether you are away from home or just don't want the hassle of scheduling an appointment at a doctor's office.
How To Decrease Your Medical Costs
Viewpoints from a Naturopathic Physician by Kendra Pearsall, N.M.D. People tell us their number one reason for joining Liberty HealthShare is the cost savings. Members report they are saving thousands over previous years' total healthcare expenses. Cost savings is one of the many reasons I LOVE being a member, and for that reason and more, I tell everyone I know about this wonderful program. I asked Liberty HealthShare's Executive Director, Dale Bellis, how Liberty is able to keep membership fees low.
The Tyranny Of The Urgent - Healthy Tips From Sue
How many times have we said, ”There are not enough hours in a day!" Today a family sitting down at the dinner table to enjoy a meal together is an almost obsolete occurrence. If you have children who are involved in extracurricular activities, you know exactly what I’m talking about. For those who have children a typical day may look like this…
Norman Allen's Liberty HealthShare Story
While attending a national convention, the Liberty HealthShare team was approached by a member. With a determined look on his face, the man had broken through the crowd standing in front of the booth and pulled something out of his back pocket. In front of everyone in attendance there, in a voice that broke through the clamor of a convention floor, he held his Liberty HealthShare member card up and said, "You all saved my life."
Revised Guidelines Go Into Effect April 1st

It is essential that you take the time to review and understand our Sharing Guidelines as often as you need to. Doing so will ensure that your expectations are appropriate.
Wisdom From A Child - Healthy Tips From Sue
I was sitting at my desk thinking of a subject for my next newsletter article when my 11-year-old niece, Bayleigh, came to visit me. She said,” Aunt Susie, what are you doing?” “I’m thinking about what I should write for the next newsletter," I replied. With excitement in her voice and her eyes shining like Christmas lights, she said, “I know what you can write about. Write about your skin!” I pondered her idea and because she was so excited about her suggestion, I asked if she wanted to help. She sat down and began writing.
