Healthcare Sharing Members Come Together in Difficult Times

April 14th, 2020

We’re all living in difficult times right now. While this time of uncertainty is much more difficult for some compared to others, this is without a doubt a unique and challenging time for all of us as a collective society. Those most challenged by the global coronavirus pandemic sweeping across the United States are those infected by the virus and the healthcare workers stepping up to the plate to treat the infected. Those individuals and their families are facing an unimaginable burden during this time and we should all keep them in our thoughts and prayers as this outbreak continues and eventually winds down.

In difficult and uncertain times, it helps to have a group of friends supporting you emotionally and, if needed, financially. This idea of a group of friends being there to support those in need during their difficult time is being made a reality by one non-profit, Christian organization.

As a healthcare sharing ministry, Liberty HealthShare brings together members from all across the United States to share the cost of their medical expenses. Members of Liberty HealthShare are there for each other, even though they may have never met each other. This sense of community is guided by the organization’s Christian principles and has never been more evident or vital than during the COVID-19 outbreak.

Since the beginning of the outbreak in the early months of 2020, Liberty HealthShare members have been supporting  their fellow members to receive the testing and treatment they may need as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Members’ monthly contributions are shared among other members’ eligible medical expenses and, as we know, the outbreak of coronavirus cases in the United States does not mean that all other illnesses and injuries stop. As COVID-19 continues to impact communities around our nation, many people are left feeling the aftermath of the loss that comes in the face of job layoffs and unexpected financial hardship. This includes some Liberty HealthShare members who are facing daunting uncertainty and recovery as they consider how best to move forward.

The impact of loss on these sharing members is real, but it’s also an opportunity for those who can help to assist others during this time through Liberty HealthShare’s donation-based initiative, iShare. Through the iShare program, you have the opportunity to donate to those who are experiencing financial hardship. You can serve, give and encourage people who have lost confidence during these uncertain times. iShare as a purposeful way we can join together in our mission to care for others in their time of need.

While members can give more than their regular share amounts through iShare, you don’t have to be a member to give. You can give and you can feel good knowing that your contribution is helping others during a critical time in history.

While the financial support is important for Liberty HealthShare members facing increased medical expenses during this difficult time, their fellow members are also able to offer emotional and spiritual support. Through their online accounts, members are able to send positive thoughts, prayers, and well wishes to their fellow members facing medical issues. We’ve all experienced the power that can come from positive thought and with Liberty HealthShare you have over 200,000 fellow members thinking of you during your hardships.

As we as a society face this unique challenge together, the support of those close to us is as important as ever. Whether that support is emotional or financial, the benefits of that support can make a big difference. The Liberty HealthShare community is a prime example of how large groups of people, even if they don’t know each other personally, can help assist one another through even the most difficult times. In this time of uncertainty, let’s hope that more examples of solidarity like the example of Liberty HealthShare members become more common.
