Member Story: Sam Weiss
As a small business owner, Sam Weiss must be concerned with cost and how he spends money. That’s as true for the supplies and equipment he needs to operate his Harley-Davidson motorcycle dealership in Pennsylvania as it is for healthcare for him and his wife Nichole.
In 2018, the couple had determined that their health insurance was no longer sustainable. To keep the monthly premiums manageable, they had to keep selecting plans that had higher and higher deductibles.
“The pricing and our deductibles kept going up and we just found it unaffordable, plus we never were able to meet our minimum deductible amount,” he said.
“We knew we had to begin searching for alternatives. I looked at several different healthcare plans and then a friend told me about Liberty HealthShare. I did plenty of research. Liberty HealthShare’s faith-based values are something we truly believe in, and the pricing was really in our wheelhouse versus health insurance.”
Weiss said Liberty HealthShare “met every one of our goals and was something that I knew was going to be there when we needed it with a community that is supportive to its membership.”
Years later, Weiss is still happy with his choice. “I’d rate it as better than good. It’s been a great experience. We’ve never had an issue with any expenses and never a problem seeing any doctor we needed to. The customer service has been superior. It’s very seamless.”
He recalls the simplicity of a prenotification request for his wife a few years ago. “Our doctor’s office called in, explained what he thought she needed to have done, sent in some records, and in less than a week she was ready to go. Her health had been suffering and the treatment provided instant results. She’s still feeling great to this day.”
Similarly, Weiss said the review process for his physical therapy treatments and chiropractic care was just as fast.
Weiss recommends Liberty HealthShare often, especially to those who don’t have employer-sponsored health insurance. That includes his own employees.
“As a small business, we don’t have a formalized healthcare program but do provide a health and wellness credit to our employees that we encourage them to use for healthcare, gym memberships or medical expenses. I recommend all my employees review Liberty HealthShare’s programs. I share my experiences and let them know that I think Liberty HealthShare is great.”
