Lifelong Mississippi resident Janet Ralph may be retired, but her life is anything but slow.
“I started working part-time when the first grandkid came, but by the fourth one I pretty much quit working all the way,” laughed Ralph. “We have five grandkids in all now.”
Working as a nurse for over 36 years, Ralph’s multi-decade career was not just a job, but a rewarding calling.
“All I ever thought about doing was to be a nurse,” recalled Ralph. “I passed my boards when I was 19. I mostly worked in oncology, and my hospital did a lot to improve the quality of life for cancer patients as they progressed through treatment.”
With such an extensive career in healthcare, Ralph is no stranger to the inner workings, and failings, of the insurance industry.
“I had to deal with all that quite a bit while I was working, and it was so often a battle. Too many times companies didn’t want to cooperate with doctors to get patients what they needed,” said Ralph. “The last thing you want to deal with when going through a serious medical event is all the red tape and runaround.”
With that knowledge, Ralph knew there had to be another way. Just as everyone’s healthsharing journey is unique, Ralph didn’t take a direct line to Liberty HealthShare.
“My husband left his factory job to begin driving a truck, and I at that point was working part-time, so that left us with a gap in medical care. I had first joined a competing healthshare prior to hearing about Liberty HealthShare on American Family Radio while driving to work,” said Ralph. “Joining Liberty HealthShare has been the best choice. I’ve been much happier with Liberty HealthShare than with insurance or the other healthshare.”
Ralph’s happiness with Liberty HealthShare is multi-faceted, but what jumps most to mind is the quality and character of those she interacts with from the ministry.
“I can always talk to real human, which is huge for me because I’m not the best with technology. Whoever I talk to is always so kind and patient; they never make me feel crazy for asking anything,” said Ralph. “Sometimes I don’t even know how to put into words what I need to ask, but I’m always helped and guided through like they know what I’m thinking.”
And guidance is at a premium when navigating something as serious as an open-heart surgery like Ralph’s husband had to undergo.
“Y'all were so very helpful to us through my husband’s surgery. That was a huge help and took a lot of stress off me with him being out of commission,” explained Ralph. “I didn’t need the mess of figuring out how to navigate that, and you just don’t get that kind of trouble with Liberty HealthShare. What needs done is plain, clear, and it just gets taken care of.”
Easy to use. Affordable. Community based. Ralph doesn’t see any future without being a member of the Liberty HealthShare community, and she hopes more people will find what she has.
“How medical procedures are priced, and our monthly share amounts, is very fair. Big insurance company premiums and deductibles we just couldn’t afford. Even better, Liberty HealthShare is a Christian ministry that doesn’t make me pay for things that I don’t stand for. I don’t know why anyone wouldn’t want to go this route.”
