Employee Spotlight: Meet Donald

Employee Spotlight: Meet Donald

People often say that they “put out fires” at work. Donald Sees, one of Liberty HealthShare’s Agile Business Analysts, literally has.

“I worked my way up to Kitchen Manager at McDonald’s over the course of five years. At no point during my time at Liberty HealthShare have I been overly stressed because, in addition to handling the maintenance, ordering, and inventory for three stores, I literally had to deal with a fire caused by a motor malfunction. After that, everything else is a little easier,” recalled Sees.

His prior experience has served him well through a variety of roles at Liberty HealthShare, beginning as a Member Services Advocate, eventually becoming a supervisor, and then finally transitioning to Information Technologies.

“In my role I am more or less a project manager for the things the ministry needs the technologies division to do,” said Sees. “Whenever someone has an idea of how an application can be improved or changed, I am one of the people who facilitates communication between the developers and others so that each group can understand each other.”

With six years of experience working at Liberty HealthShare, Sees brings a unique perspective to problem-solving.

“My prior experience in the ministry helps me now to understand what departments need, and I’m very glad I got to see the bigger picture from the ground up,” said Sees. “I’ve always been good at, and enjoyed, working with people on their goals and task management, so I continually try to learn as much as I can about the ministry, which in turn helps with my day-to-day work.”

Self-described as a jack of all trades and master of none, Sees relishes in the individualized challenges each day presents.

“I like that my work is almost never the same thing each day because it constantly gives me the opportunity to learn. I’m not super familiar with Bill Processing, for example, but I can go to the department leader’s office and say, ‘I understand the end goal, but I don’t know how we get there – can you walk me through it?’ Continual learning and improvement are important to me,” explained Sees.

From helping with larger projects like the launch of the Liberty HealthShare mobile app to assisting with data distillation and reporting, Sees enjoys making life just a little bit better each week for both Liberty HealthShare employees and members.

“I live by the idea that you should leave every place that you go in a better condition than when you got there. My goal is to make it easier and more efficient for our teams to do what they need to do to help our members and improve their experience.”

A lifelong native of Northeast Ohio, Sees enjoys hiking, canoeing, being with his family, video games, card games, and, most of all, cooking.

“I love cooking. From the age of five I learned from my great-grandmother and my grandmother. I’m the only member of my family that has all the family recipes. Making those, as well as branching out and trying new things in the kitchen, is really special to me.”

As Sees looks to his future at Liberty HealthShare, he keeps three words in mind.

“I would describe my work in these three words: progress, because we’re always trying to be better; teamwork, because none of us can do it alone; and understanding, because we need to know where we’re coming from in order to get to where we’re going.”
